About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential SaaS organization in the accounting and audit software space. We are seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer III to join their remote engineering team in Colombia. This is a fully remote position working with a globally distributed team.

As a senior technical leader, you will architect and build production AI systems that power next-generation capabilities for professional users worldwide. You'll work at the intersection of modern AI technologies and scalable cloud platforms, driving both technical strategy and hands-on implementation.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve technical architecture for AI platform capabilities, establishing standards and design principles that enable scalable, secure, and trustworthy AI systems across multiple teams
• Design, build, and operate AI systems powered by LLMs, retrieval pipelines, agentic workflows, and multi-agent systems including execution runtimes, workflow orchestration, memory management, and human-in-the-loop capabilities
• Implement evaluation, governance, auditability, and traceability frameworks ensuring AI systems are measurable, explainable, compliant, and continuously improving
• Translate advances in AI research into practical, maintainable platform capabilities that solve real customer problems
• Influence technical direction through architecture reviews, RFCs, design discussions, and hands-on collaboration with engineering teams
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies, models, frameworks, and cloud capabilities; lead proof-of-concepts informing platform strategy
• Drive reliability, observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices across AI systems ensuring resilience, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in production
• Partner with Product, QA, Security, domain experts, and Engineering teams to deliver business value
• Mentor engineers across teams and contribute to raising overall engineering maturity

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated impact beyond a single team
• 2+ years building and operating production AI systems
• Proven experience designing distributed, SaaS, cloud-native, multi-tenant platforms at scale
• Experience implementing AI guardrails, governance controls, and safety mechanisms
• Strong understanding of AI system tradeoffs including latency, cost, accuracy, reliability, and scalability
• Extensive experience building and operating production systems on AWS
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions across teams
• Strong English language communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments with ambiguity and evolving requirements

Nice to have:

• Experience operating systems in regulated or compliance-heavy domains
• Familiarity with accounting, auditing, or financial workflows
