About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential insurance organization in Northern Germany seeking an IT Security Engineer for a permanent position. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical security operations in a dynamic environment where you'll protect sensitive information and ensure secure data exchange.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate security operations center capabilities including connecting new systems, reviewing automated threat detection, and adapting rules to current threat landscapes
  • Advance vulnerability management programs by integrating new systems, evaluating scan results, and participating in remediation efforts
  • Actively monitor IT security through analysis of security information, scan outputs, and security appliance alerts to minimize risk exposure
  • Investigate security incidents by conducting thorough analyses, recommending countermeasures, and supporting implementation alongside internal and external teams
  • Organize and execute external penetration testing including planning, coordination, technical evaluation of findings, and support for remediation activities
  • Conduct internal penetration tests, assess technical results, and guide teams through implementing derived security measures

What We're Looking For

  • Completed technical degree in Computer Science, IT Security, or Business Informatics
  • Substantial professional experience in IT security, ideally within the insurance sector
  • Several years of experience in IT operations or software development with a focus on security solutions
  • Deep understanding of security topics and hands-on experience with modern system components such as cloud technologies, OpenShift, or containerization
  • Independent, structured, and solution-oriented work style with strong initiative
  • Excellent communication skills and team orientation to serve as an interdisciplinary interface
  • German language proficiency required for this Hamburg-based position

Position Details

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Hamburg with 38 hours per week and 30 vacation days. The role offers flexible and remote work arrangements with up to 4 days per week working from home.
