Director of Operations, Slate Development

About This Opportunity

We are representing a global mobile gaming company in their search for a Director of Operations, Slate Development to join their team remotely in the UK or on a flexible hybrid basis in Barcelona.

Our client operates at the intersection of game development and organizational excellence. This role sits within their slate development function, which coordinates execution and cross-functional alignment across multiple games in development. You'll be the operational backbone connecting game teams with central resources, ensuring decisions stick, running the cadence that keeps everyone aligned, and clearing obstacles so teams can focus on building great games.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the operational point of contact for specific in-development games, running the game development framework cadence and connecting game teams with central functions to ensure decisions are made once and executed consistently
• Deliver operational excellence within the slate development team, shaping service models, priorities, and ways of working while evolving capabilities as organizational needs change
• Drive the cross-slate operating model so independent game teams can leverage proven practices instead of rebuilding processes from scratch
• Bring structure to high-stakes decisions by organizing inputs, assumptions, and trade-offs early so stakeholders can reach genuine alignment before committing resources
• Own a capstone project such as evolving the game development framework, managing launch readiness, or operationalizing central partnerships based on current organizational priorities
• Keep investment decisions well-informed by tracking progress across games at different development stages and surfacing greenlight case status, budgets, staffing levels, and dependencies for leadership review
• Unblock teams throughout the development cycle by resolving operational issues with central partners including legal, IT, procurement, finance, and logistics, particularly during launch readiness phases
• Provide operational support to game teams including production perspective, process design, facilitation, and navigation guidance through development frameworks
• Operationalize playtests and validation activities by helping build and execute research plans, then packaging findings for vertical owners and leadership decision-making
• Leverage AI technologies to maintain information flow through dashboards, status reports, and key date tracking without creating excessive overhead

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA is a plus, or equivalent professional experience
• 10+ years in program or project management across technology and direct-to-consumer businesses, with at least 5 years in the gaming industry working within or alongside development teams
• Strong understanding of how games are made and sold including development processes, publishing, platforms, and business models
• Proven experience supporting senior executives in fast-moving environments with ability to take initiative, juggle priorities, and switch gears without losing focus
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, ideally spanning both R&D and live operations
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and skilled at creating clarity for others; able to make sound judgment calls in the company's interest and recognize when to escalate
• Fluency with P&Ls and free-to-play KPIs
• Track record of identifying processes that slow teams down and implementing fixes; willing to push back and initiate necessary debates when situations warrant
• Strong relationship-building skills across all organizational levels with presence to develop into a trusted partner to senior game leaders over time
• Excellent written communication skills with ability to build compelling presentations incorporating cross-functional input
• Natural attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities
• Low ego, business outcomes-focused mindset, openness to feedback, and genuine curiosity about all aspects of the business
• Active interest in playing games and following industry developments
