Head of Operations – Shopify App Portfolio

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization with a portfolio of three established e-commerce applications generating approximately $1.87M in annual recurring revenue. These are profitable, mature products serving engaged merchant communities. Our client is seeking an experienced operator to own day-to-day execution across the portfolio while the founder focuses on strategic direction.

This is a fully remote, part-time role (15-25 hours per week) suited to someone who thrives on ownership, autonomy, and building well-run operations without the overhead of traditional corporate structures.

Responsibilities

• Team coordination and delivery: Manage developers and testers through the full delivery cycle from specification through deployment and measurement, coordinating across time zones and scaling contractor resources as needed
• Roadmap and prioritization: Translate analytics data, customer feedback, and support signals into prioritized backlogs with clear, actionable tickets for the development team
• Metrics and experimentation: Own the analytics framework, design experiments, measure impact, and report on what's working and what to try next
• Quality and documentation: Continuously improve user experience through better onboarding flows, clearer documentation, and removing friction points
• Platform compliance: Stay current with e-commerce platform API changes, manage app marketplace compliance reviews, and maintain certification standards
• Support oversight: Serve as escalation point for complex product and engineering issues while managing the relationship with the tier-1 support agency to ensure quality standards
• Paid advertising oversight: Work with marketing contractors to manage existing paid campaigns, set quarterly budgets collaboratively, and ensure smooth execution
• Marketplace optimization: Monitor app store rankings across the portfolio, identify improvement opportunities, and respond quickly to ranking changes

What We're Looking For

Required experience and skills:

• Proven track record running product or delivery operations for a small SaaS team
• Technical fluency to write clear product specifications, understand development trade-offs, and evaluate effort estimates
• Strong organizational skills with experience coordinating remote teams and removing blockers
• Data-driven decision making using analytics platforms and SQL (or ability to write SQL queries with AI assistance)
• Self-directed work style comfortable with asynchronous collaboration and managing your own priorities
• Excellent written communication for remote-first coordination

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience in the e-commerce platform ecosystem
• Background in app store optimization or SaaS growth strategies
• Paid acquisition experience

What you won't be doing:

• Writing code (there's a developer for that)
• Conducting QA testing (there's a dedicated tester)
• Handling routine support tickets (an agency manages tier-1 support)
• Responding to customer reviews (a contractor handles this)
• Managing stakeholder politics or traditional corporate overhead

Context you'll be joining:

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $65-$85 USD per hour, commensurate with experience.
