Senior Finanzbuchhalter (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a growing organization in Berlin that needs an experienced senior accounting professional to take ownership of core financial accounting processes across multiple entities. In this role, you will independently manage the complete accounting cycle and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.

Your day-to-day work includes:

• Managing ongoing financial accounting for several legal entities, ensuring complete and accurate recording of all business transactions
• Preparing monthly and annual financial statements according to German commercial code (HGB) with precision and adherence to deadlines
• Overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes, reconciling accounts and maintaining high-quality bookkeeping standards
• Processing payment runs, reviewing and executing payments, and coordinating with banks and external service providers as needed
• Managing travel expense and corporate credit card reconciliations in compliance with internal policies and legal requirements
• Reconciling and maintaining fixed assets and inventory records with proper documentation
• Serving as the primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, and internal departments, providing necessary documentation and information
• Identifying process improvement opportunities and actively contributing to the development and standardization of accounting, closing, and reporting procedures
• Providing technical support to colleagues and fostering efficient collaboration within the finance team

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks someone with substantial hands-on accounting experience who can work independently and maintain the highest standards of accuracy:

• At least five years of relevant experience in financial accounting, with a proven track record of independently preparing monthly and annual financial statements
• Commercial training, degree in finance/accounting, or comparable qualification
• Strong knowledge of German accounting principles (HGB) and confidence in evaluating balance sheet items and properly recording business transactions
• Proficiency with DATEV software and solid understanding of digital accounting and closing processes
• Structured, careful, and self-directed working style with ability to manage multiple parallel tasks while reliably meeting deadlines
• Solution-oriented approach—you independently investigate discrepancies, critically question situations, and develop pragmatic yet technically sound solutions
• Strong team collaboration skills with clear, professional communication toward internal departments and external partners
• Fluent German language skills (written and spoken); good English skills are welcomed but not required
• Additional certification as Bilanzbuchhalter/in or Steuerfachwirt/in is welcome but not mandatory for this position
