Business Strategist – DACH

Responsibilities

Our client, a confidential defense technology organization, is seeking a Business Strategist to establish market presence from the ground up in the DACH region. You will identify entry points within defense ecosystems, build trusted relationships across military and government stakeholders, and create pathways from initial operational engagement through pilot programs to contract execution.

In this role, you will:

• Build market presence by identifying the right units, partners, champions, and procurement pathways, owning the journey from first engagement through experimentation and pilot to signed agreements
• Identify and shape strategic opportunities before formal procurement processes begin, positioning solutions where operational needs are emerging
• Develop and maintain trusted relationships across the defense ecosystem, including operational units, industrial partners, and government stakeholders
• Navigate complex, politically sensitive government sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, security clearances, RFIs, RFPs, and public procurement regulations
• Translate technical capabilities into language that resonates with procurement officers, general staffs, and program leadership
• Collaborate closely with product and deployment teams to convert field validation into commercial momentum
• Work with a Europe-wide team to unlock strategic opportunities with armed forces, partners, and defense organizations

What We're Looking For

Must-have qualifications:

• Proven experience selling into armed forces, ministries of defense, or other highly regulated government markets with extended sales cycles
• Top-performing sales history with a clear track record of personally closing two or three large-scale deals
• Comfortable building pipeline and market presence from near zero without an established playbook
• Technical curiosity and ability to understand complex software products well enough to translate them into operational and commercial value
• Empathy for military users and their mission
• EU citizenship (contractual requirement)
• Fluency in German and English

Nice to have:

• Existing relationships within defense ministries, armed forces, or NATO-adjacent institutions
• Prior experience at a defense technology or dual-use startup
• Military or related government background

Pay

This role is based in Munich with field travel to active deployment areas. Employment type: full-time.
