About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential insurance organization seeking a California Senior Workers Comp Claims Specialist to join their remote team. This role offers the opportunity to manage high-complexity claims while working from anywhere in the United States. We are looking for an experienced claims professional with deep expertise in California workers' compensation to handle sophisticated investigative work and settlement negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a large inventory of highly complex workers' compensation claims, evaluating compensability and liability
  • Lead comprehensive claims investigations to confirm coverage, determine liability, compensability, and damages
  • Analyze and negotiate appropriate claim settlements and reserves within prescribed authority limits
  • Attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as needed
  • Communicate complex coverage and settlement information to insureds, claimants, and external partners
  • Authorize payments in accordance with assigned authority limits, ensuring timely disbursement
  • Maintain accurate and detailed claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements
  • May have responsibility for coaching staff and participating in talent development decisions

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 13 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling
  • California workers' compensation experience strongly preferred
  • Professional designation such as Associate in Claims (AIC) preferred or progress toward completion
  • Expert knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of industry laws and regulations
  • Advanced ability to organize and prioritize caseloads for timely resolution
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to lead negotiations
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
