Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential international development organization working to support community-based bio-enterprises in the Peruvian Amazon. This consultancy will develop a comprehensive financing intelligence tool for indigenous and community businesses in the sustainable bioeconomy sector.
As the consultant, you will:
- Design and implement a methodology to map and categorize funding sources accessible to Amazonian community bio-enterprises, including public competitive funds, environmental funds, international cooperation, impact investment, and banking products
- Identify and document no fewer than 30 relevant funding sources and competitive funds available nationally and internationally from Peru
- Create standardized fact sheets for each funding source detailing requirements, amounts, instruments, eligibility criteria, timelines, difficulty level, and contact information
- Build a searchable database categorized by financial instrument type, funder type, business maturity stage, value chain sector, legal form, geographic scope, amount/timeline, and complexity level
- Develop a calendar of funding calls for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 cycles distinguishing open, recurring, and historical opportunities
- Analyze systemic barriers that prevent community organizations from accessing finance (formalization requirements, legal structure, co-financing, guarantees, reporting capacity)
- Propose access pathways tailored to different maturity stages, legal forms, and value chains
- Deliver a practical user guide and conduct knowledge transfer sessions with our client's acceleration team
- Participate in bi-weekly coordination meetings to report progress on deliverables

- Deep knowledge of Peru's funding ecosystem including requirements, amounts, instruments, and timelines across public funds, environmental funds, cooperation agencies, banking, and impact investment
- Experience working with associative models and community-based or indigenous organizations in the Amazon, with understanding of their formalization conditions and financing access constraints
- Previous experience developing mappings, catalogs, or studies of financing sources or similar instruments is highly valued
Essential skills:
- Advanced research, systematization, and analysis capabilities across multiple information sources
- Expert proficiency in spreadsheet tools for designing navigable, updateable databases (Excel or equivalent)

Preferred:
- Access to a support team that can comprehensively cover different capital sources (public funds, cooperation, impact investment, banking)
- Understanding of social bioeconomy concepts and community bio-business models in agroforestry, non-timber forest products, sustainable foods, fisheries, ecotourism, and related sectors
