(Senior) Accountant (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization in Berlin. In this role, you will take ownership of core financial accounting processes and drive continuous improvement of systems and workflows.

• Independently maintain and manage the general ledger, and review automatically generated invoices within the ERP system (Odoo)
• Lead the preparation of monthly closing processes and contribute to annual financial statements under HGB, including timely execution of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and provisions
• Prepare VAT pre-registrations and maintain ongoing coordination with tax authorities and external tax advisors domestically and internationally
• Manage weekly payment runs and cash management activities including currency transactions
• Serve as the central point of contact for technical accounting questions in daily operations, conduct regular posting controls, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams
• Actively shape, optimize, and implement new internal processes and system functionalities

What We're Looking For

• Completed commercial training (e.g., as a tax specialist or in financial accounting) or relevant degree, plus at least 3–5 years of professional experience in an accounting environment, preferably in e-commerce
• Strong technical knowledge of HGB accounting standards and proficient use of ERP systems and Excel
• Experience in D2C business models and knowledge of cross-border tax matters (e.g., UK, Switzerland, Poland) are advantageous
• Understanding of online retail specifics such as payment providers, marketplaces, and shipping cost structures
• Structured, proactive, and meticulous working style combined with analytical thinking
• Strong enthusiasm for automation and digitalization of modern finance processes
• Excellent communication skills to serve as a competent sparring partner for internal stakeholders
• German language skills at C2 level, business-fluent English (C1), and residence in Berlin or surrounding area
