UI Designer – Fintech (Design System)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization specializing in cross-border payments and remittances. Our client operates fully remotely across Latin America and Europe, building products that make moving money between countries simple, fast, and human-centered.

We're seeking a UI Designer to join their Product Design team and lead the creation, governance, and scalability of their Design System. You'll translate brand identity into consistent components, patterns, and guidelines while ensuring the system is actively used, maintained, and evolves alongside the product.

This role requires close collaboration with technology teams to understand technical constraints and implementation details, as well as partnering with the Growth Marketing design team to ensure every piece that goes to production speaks the same visual language. Prior fintech and digital product experience is highly valued, as understanding the nuances of regulation, user trust, and complex flows is essential for designing a system that supports business growth.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and maintain Design System components and patterns including typography, color, spacing, UI components, states, and accessibility standards
• Define system governance: proposal processes for changes, component versioning, and communication protocols for updates across teams
• Collaborate closely with technology teams to ensure faithful code implementation of components and identify gaps between design and development
• Partner with the Growth Marketing design team to ensure campaign materials leverage the Design System without sacrificing speed or creative flexibility
• Conduct periodic audits of system usage across product and marketing, identifying inconsistencies and simplification opportunities
• Scale the system as the organization grows across new flows, platforms, and markets while maintaining visual and experiential coherence
• Design high-quality product interfaces when needed, applying and providing feedback to the Design System itself

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of UI Design experience, ideally leading or building a Design System from scratch or scaling an existing one
• Prior experience in the fintech sector and digital products is highly relevant; you understand the velocity, regulation, and ambiguity inherent in these environments
• Strong command of Figma, including components, variants, auto layout, and shared libraries
• Ability to communicate with technical teams about design tokens, reusable components, and implementation constraints
• Experience collaborating with marketing or growth teams, understanding that brand consistency should not slow down these teams
• Sound judgment to balance consistency with flexibility; you know when a pattern should be rigid and when it should allow for exceptions
• Autonomy to work 100% remotely in a distributed team across multiple countries
• Portfolio demonstrating your approach to Design System work
