Head of Product Design – Remote (US/CANADA)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential Series C SaaS organization that has reached significant scale in their market. Our client is at an inflection point, integrating AI capabilities across their platform and raising the design bar to meet the expectations of a highly engaged user base. They need a Head of Product Design to define the design discipline, set the vision, and lead a team building experiences that drive retention and daily engagement.

This is a remote role open to candidates based in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities

• Define and publish a Product Design strategy within your first 90 days and champion it across the organization
• Establish design principles, standards, and a point of view that differentiates the platform in market
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to drive measurable improvements in engagement, retention, and weekly active users
• Own the quality bar for every customer-facing experience and translate product strategy into design execution
• Lead, develop, and scale the Product Design team while building a culture of feedback, craft, and accountability
• Integrate AI tools and workflows into the design practice to increase velocity without compromising quality
• Model AI-native ways of working and coach the team to adopt them
• Recruit and retain top-tier design talent as the team grows

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years in product design with at least 3 years in a Head of Design, Design Director, or equivalent leadership role
• Proven track record leading design at a high-growth SaaS company, ideally at Series B or C scale
• Experience building and scaling design teams with demonstrated success retaining top talent
• Portfolio showing measurable business impact alongside exceptional craft
• Systems thinker who connects design decisions to business outcomes like retention and revenue
• Deep ownership mentality: you take responsibility for quality and outcomes, not just output
• Cross-functional leadership ability, earning influence across Product, Engineering, and Go-to-Market teams
• Operationally rigorous with clear processes, feedback loops, and accountability
• AI-forward: actively using AI in your design practice and rethinking how great design gets made at speed
• Experience designing for complex, data-rich, or workflow-heavy products is a strong plus
