Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential hospitality technology organization in their search for a Senior Data Engineer based in Düsseldorf. In this role, you will shape the architecture and technical direction of a Google Cloud data platform while enabling a team of engineers to deliver reliable, high-quality data products.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Define and evolve the architecture, standards, and roadmap of the Google Cloud data platform, ensuring alignment with business goals and long-term scalability
- Design and deliver reliable, high-performance data pipelines and data products using modern cloud-native tools and engineering practices
- Establish data quality, governance, testing, monitoring, and operational excellence practices that enable trusted analytics and machine learning outcomes
- Mentor engineers across different experience levels through coaching, code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing
- Lead the resolution of complex technical challenges, production incidents, and cross-functional initiatives while fostering collaboration and shared ownership
- Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, with clear quality, security, and reliability guardrails
What We're Looking For
- Proven expertise in designing and operating scalable data platforms and distributed data systems in a cloud environment
- Deep knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, and modern warehouse or lakehouse approaches, with strong Python and SQL skills
- Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and related technologies
- Strong experience building data orchestration, transformation, and testing solutions using tools such as Airflow and dbt
- Demonstrated ability to define technical direction, influence architectural decisions, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring others, driving continuous improvement, and balancing innovation with operational excellence
