Senior Software Engineer, Ads

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their growing Ads team in Canada. Our client operates at massive scale, processing petabyte-level data to deliver critical advertising reporting solutions to partners and stakeholders.

This is a remote position open to candidates in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. You'll work on building world-class reporting infrastructure that powers billing, attribution, and strategic decision-making for a platform used by millions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines and data architecture supporting critical advertising metrics and billing systems
• Develop multi-platform reporting solutions that deliver timely, accurate, and actionable insights to advertisers and retail partners
• Lead technical initiatives across the stack, from system design documentation to hands-on coding and code reviews
• Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers to advance the ads platform
• Champion data quality, correctness, scalability, and latency standards across the organization
• Work with distributed systems and big data technologies to process large-scale datasets efficiently
• Architect solutions that support both streaming and batch processing workflows
• Contribute to best practices and technical strategy for short and long-term platform development
• Partner cross-functionally to gather requirements and influence stakeholders at all levels

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience (4+ years)
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and proven experience with data processing technologies like DBT and Airflow
• Experience with common web frameworks such as Rails
• Highly proficient with SQL, including writing and reviewing complex queries for analysis and debugging
• Demonstrated ability to design systems for scale with consideration for the entire architecture
• Strong analytical and debugging skills with attention to edge cases
• Excellent communication skills and comfort with seeking and receiving feedback
• Strong sense of ownership when working with large codebases and diverse product suites
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across engineering, design, and product teams
• Strong organizational skills with ability to influence stakeholders at manager, director, and VP levels

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience in the digital advertising industry
• Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Flink, Hive, or Kafka
• Proven experience designing distributed systems
• Strong general programming and algorithm skills
• Experience building both streaming and batch data pipelines
• Data-driven mindset with keen attention to detail and accuracy

Pay

The client has indicated a compensation range of CAD $168,000–$177,500 for this role, dependent on the candidate's permanent work location within the eligible provinces. The position is also eligible for equity grants. Specific pay details through Get A Job.ai will be discussed during the screening process.
