About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established manufacturing organization in the Hildesheim area that is seeking a senior production and technical leader with the ambition and potential to grow into an executive management role.

Our client is a financially stable, family-owned business with decades of history in specialized manufacturing. With approximately 65 employees, they produce high-quality solutions across machine manufacturing, container construction, and specialized vehicle construction. The company maintains a solid order book, operates debt-free, and holds a strong market position.

As part of a planned generational transition, they need a technically capable and entrepreneurially minded professional to take operational responsibility for key production areas—with an explicit path to expanded leadership responsibilities and potential managing director position over time.

Responsibilities

Your initial focus will be on operational leadership of the container construction and specialized vehicle construction divisions, taking over substantial portions of the current operational responsibilities. The role is deliberately weighted toward hands-on operations:

• Approximately 70% production, work preparation, quality management, productivity, and continuous improvement of operational processes
• Approximately 30% technical matters, engineering, development, and product enhancement
• Direct operational accountability for container and specialized vehicle manufacturing areas
• Management and development of production and work preparation functions
• Continuous improvement of productivity, quality, and economic efficiency
• Analysis and optimization of existing production and organizational processes
• Supporting technical development and engineering matters
• Translating sales, market, and customer requirements into practical technical and operational solutions
• Close collaboration with sales, purchasing, and other business areas
• Leadership and development of assigned team members and supervisors
• Progressive assumption of broader business and commercial responsibilities
• Close cooperation with ownership and existing technical leadership

What We're Looking For

We are not necessarily seeking a finished managing director. Rather, we're looking for someone currently successful as a production manager, operations manager, plant manager, or technical director who is ready to take the next step into broader entrepreneurial responsibility.

Required qualifications:

• Technical education or degree in mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, industrial engineering, or comparable field
• Multiple years of experience in a mid-sized manufacturing environment
• Leadership experience in production, technical operations, plant management, or similar roles
• Strong understanding of production processes, work preparation, quality, and productivity
• Technical knowledge in areas such as mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and/or electrical systems
• Experience in machine building, vehicle construction, special equipment manufacturing, or comparable industrial sectors
• Drive to not only analyze but actually implement improvements
• Entrepreneurial thinking and interest in engaging with commercial and strategic matters over time
• Grounded, reliable, and respectful leadership style
• German language proficiency required for this Germany-based position
