About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential research organization seeking Physics Experts with specialization in Biophysics or Statistical Physics for a remote contract engagement. Our client is developing next-generation AI systems and needs domain experts to contribute high-quality research-level input. This project focuses on modeling bacterial population growth, stochastic processes, and cell-size regulation—no prior AI experience is required, just deep expertise in your field.

Participants will be matched to roles such as Solver, Auditor, or Adjudicator based on your specialization, seniority, and hands-on experience with the relevant methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and model stochastic two-state Markov processes with gamma-distributed waiting times in bacterial population dynamics contexts
• Apply the Euler-Lotka equation to assess and benchmark asymptotic population growth rates under varying noise regimes
• Develop or review analytical approaches using perturbative expansions in small division-noise variance and validate predictions
• Integrate renewal theory and first-passage-time analysis to derive insights on population growth and cell-size regulation noise
• Document detailed methodological steps, assumptions, and findings for reproducibility and training purposes

What We're Looking For

• Advanced expertise in statistical physics, biophysics, or quantitative biological modeling of stochastic processes
• Proven experience working with two-state Markov models and gamma-distributed waiting times in biological or physical systems
• Strong command of the Euler-Lotka equation, perturbative expansions, and renewal theory in population or growth dynamics
• Demonstrated ability to conduct first-passage-time analysis and interpret implications for growth-rate fluctuations and size control
• Excellent documentation and communication skills for conveying complex technical work
