Platform Lead (DevOps / Infrastructure)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is scaling rapidly across multiple international markets. Our client needs a Platform Lead who can architect production-grade infrastructure while building and guiding a growing platform engineering team. This is a heavily hands-on role where you'll spend 70–80% of your time deep in technical work and 20–30% on people leadership.

This position offers real ownership of critical cloud infrastructure serving hundreds of thousands of users, with a clear path to senior infrastructure leadership as the organization expands.

Responsibilities

Technical (70–80%)

• Own and operate cloud infrastructure including compute, networking, identity, and security controls using Infrastructure-as-Code
• Manage container orchestration workloads, including cluster upgrades, deployment management, and autoscaling
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, deployment automation, and quality gates
• Drive observability by implementing and improving monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing across all services
• Harden security posture through cloud security posture management, automated scanning, access policies, and network security
• Manage multi-cloud infrastructure across multiple cloud providers
• Operate messaging infrastructure for event-driven architectures, including retry strategies and dead-letter queue management
• Standardize market launches with repeatable infrastructure provisioning
• Participate in on-call rotation for production incident response and root-cause analysis

Leadership (20–30%)

• Set technical direction for the Platform squad and define the infrastructure roadmap
• Run weekly 1:1s with platform engineers to coach, unblock, and support their growth
• Own code review across the platform domain to ensure quality and maintain consistency
• Maintain high platform velocity by prioritizing work and removing blockers
• Mentor and develop team members to do their best work
• Support the wider engineering team as the go-to person for infrastructure questions
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to translate business needs into infrastructure strategy
• Contribute to hiring by interviewing and assessing platform engineering candidates

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Experience:

• 7+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles
• Team leadership experience, either formally or informally leading a small infrastructure/platform team
• Strong cloud infrastructure expertise with compute, networking, identity management, queuing, monitoring, and storage (AWS experience required)
• Container orchestration in production with Kubernetes, including cluster operations and resource management
• Infrastructure-as-Code at scale with Terraform, including proper state management and modularization
• CI/CD pipeline design with deployment automation and strategies like blue-green or canary deployments
• Linux systems administration with OS-level debugging skills
• Monitoring and observability setup including alerting, dashboards, log aggregation, and incident response
• Security mindset with experience in access control, network security, and secrets management
• Strong communication skills to explain infrastructure decisions to non-infra engineers and present strategies to leadership
• Reliable internet and hardware, able to work ≥35 hours/week with overlap to UTC+8 Singapore time

Nice-to-Have:

• Multi-cloud experience with GCP, Firebase, or similar platforms alongside AWS
• GitOps deployment experience with tools like ArgoCD
• Event streaming operations and tuning with Kafka
• Compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2
• Cost optimization experience reducing cloud spend without sacrificing reliability
• Pen testing coordination or security audit experience
• Fintech or financial services company experience
• Multi-region or multi-market infrastructure experience
• Previous experience growing a platform/infrastructure team through hiring and onboarding
