Staff Product Designer, Business Banking

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading UK digital banking organization in their search for a Staff Product Designer to join their Business Banking division. Our client serves hundreds of thousands of business customers and is expanding their design leadership team to shape the future of business banking experiences.

This is a player-coach role where you'll lead design strategy across multiple product squads while managing and developing a small team of designers. You'll work on complex, end-to-end experiences that serve small businesses, balancing hands-on craft with people leadership and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

• Set the long-term design vision and lead large-scale design projects within Business Banking
• Deliver high-impact design work while managing and developing designers on your team
• Navigate tradeoffs and guide strategic product decisions in ambiguous problem spaces
• Partner with cross-functional leaders to define and execute product strategies
• Raise the bar for design craft and product excellence across the organization
• Proactively address systemic challenges and reduce complexity for delivery teams
• Act as a visible ambassador for Design, sharing work and impact across the company
• Mentor and develop designers across the discipline, fostering growth and collaboration

What We're Looking For

• Expert-level craft skills with deep expertise in product design and strong UI/interaction design abilities
• Experience managing designers with enthusiasm for developing others while remaining hands-on
• Strategic thinking capability to shape product direction and translate goals into actionable plans
• Proven track record delivering high-impact design work that drives customer outcomes and commercial goals
• Excellence in visual design, UI, and complex interaction design
• Curiosity about developing your craft and learning new tools, methods, and technologies
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and lead teams through complex, fast-changing environments
• Strong collaboration skills working cross-functionally to improve processes and deliver customer value
• Passion for growing design teams through hiring, onboarding, and creating scalable resources
• Pragmatic and proactive approach, balancing design impact with practical delivery needs

Location & Working Arrangements

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: £110,000 - £125,000, plus stock options and comprehensive benefits including £1,000 annual learning budget, work-from-home setup support, and flexible working arrangements.
