Role Overview

As a Graduate Nurse Stepdown, you'll provide direct patient care on a dedicated stepdown unit under the guidance of experienced nursing leadership. This role bridges intensive care and general medical-surgical nursing, supporting patients as they progress through their recovery. You'll work rotating shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with varying days off and every third weekend on-call, plus holiday coverage as required. This is an ideal position for newly licensed nurses eager to build foundational clinical skills in a supportive environment.

Core Duties

• Deliver patient-centered nursing care using current clinical protocols and best practices
• Monitor vital signs, assess patient conditions, and communicate changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered and within scope of practice
• Document patient care accurately and maintain confidentiality
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient recovery
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families
• Respond promptly to patient needs and maintain safe unit standards

What You Bring

• Completion of an accredited nursing program
• Current eligibility to practice as an RN, as verified by the Missouri State Board of Nursing
• Less than one year of professional nursing experience
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills
• Commitment to patient safety and quality care
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
