This is your opportunity to direct varsity field hockey at Swampscott High School, where you'll design and execute comprehensive coaching strategies that balance competitive excellence with athlete development and well-being. You'll manage all aspects of the program while fostering a positive, inclusive team environment.
What You'll Do
- Direct all aspects of the varsity field hockey program, including practice planning, team conditioning, and skill development
- Lead game strategy, in-game decision-making, and post-competition analysis to maximize team performance
- Foster a positive, inclusive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and personal athletic growth
- Manage team logistics, equipment maintenance, and athletic facility usage coordination
- Communicate regularly with student-athletes, families, and school administration regarding program updates and player progress
- Ensure compliance with Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) regulations and Swampscott Public Schools policies
- Collaborate with the athletic department on scheduling, budget management, and long-term program development
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a field hockey coach or demonstrated expertise in field hockey at an advanced competitive level
- Deep knowledge of field hockey rules, techniques, tactics, and evidence-based player development methods
- Demonstrated success motivating and leading high school student-athletes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators
- Genuine commitment to athlete safety, mental health, academic success, and character development
- Strong organizational abilities and capability to manage multiple coaching responsibilities simultaneously
- Familiarity with MIAA regulations and high school athletics governance standards
