UX/UI Designer

Remilia is hiring a full-time UX/UI Designer to help build a next-generation social platform in Orange County. You'll design breakthrough interfaces for an experimental digital community space that integrates social connection with game mechanics, mentored by experienced design leaders.

The Opportunity

We're developing an experimental social network inspired by visionary systems like Xanadu and Urbit, fused with engaging game mechanics that elevate how people interact online. What You'll Do

• Design interface experiences for gamified social applications across web and mobile platforms
• Build and maintain design systems under guidance from senior design team members
• Define interaction patterns and user flows for social experiences with integrated game elements
• Develop information architectures that make complex multi-platform social products feel intuitive and rewarding
• Create production-ready designs within lean agile development cycles
• Collaborate with engineers and product leaders on user-centered problem-solving
• Execute user research and usability testing to validate design directions
• Balance experimental vision with technical feasibility and genuine user needs

Qualifications

• 3+ years of UX/UI design experience with shipped digital products
• Strong portfolio demonstrating interface design skills and design methodology
• Track record of at least one major product launch or significant feature release
• Proficiency in professional design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite)
• Working knowledge of front-end development and mobile-first design principles
• Understanding of design systems and component-based architecture
• Familiarity with user research methods and usability testing practices
• Experience working alongside developers in agile environments
• Preferred: background with social platforms, game interfaces, or community-driven products; understanding of gamification and user engagement mechanics; interest in alternative or decentralized social models; experience at growth-stage startups or technology companies; passion for experimental design that pushes industry conventions
• Strong communication skills and openness to feedback
• Self-directed approach to project ownership
• Curiosity about innovative approaches to product design and social interaction
