The State of Colorado is hiring a TEMPORARY Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator (Lead and Non-Lead) at Twin Lakes in Lake County, Colorado — a seasonal opportunity to help protect Colorado's waters from aquatic invasive species.
About the Role
This is a full-time, temporary position based in Lake County, Colorado, running for nine months or less. As a Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator at Twin Lakes, you will serve on the front line of the State of Colorado's effort to keep destructive aquatic invasive species out of local lakes and reservoirs. This single posting covers both the Lead and General (Non-Lead) levels, so applicants at varying experience levels are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine incoming and outgoing watercraft for aquatic invasive species such as zebra and quagga mussels.
- Carry out decontamination procedures on boats, trailers, and related equipment as needed.
- Engage with boaters and the public to explain inspection requirements and promote responsible recreation.
- Accurately record inspection data and complete required documentation.
- For Lead roles, help guide and coordinate the daily work of fellow inspectors on site.
Qualifications
- Willingness to work outdoors at Twin Lakes in varying weather conditions throughout the season.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to following established inspection and decontamination protocols.
- Comfortable interacting with the public in a courteous, professional manner.
