The State of Colorado is hiring a Temporary Non-Lead Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator at Green Mountain Reservoir in Summit County, Colorado, to help protect one of the state's treasured waterways from aquatic invasive species. This seasonal role places you on the front line of Colorado's mission to safeguard its natural resources.

About the Role

This is a temporary, full-time position lasting nine months or less, with employment running from May 12, 2026 through October 15, 2026. Pay ranges from $20.00 to $21.00 per hour. Based on-site at Green Mountain Reservoir in Summit County, the position is not remote. Working with the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, you will support efforts to develop, preserve, and enhance the state's water and recreational assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect motorized and trailered watercraft for aquatic nuisance species before launch and after exit.
  • Perform decontamination procedures on vessels and equipment as needed.
  • Educate boaters and the public on invasive species prevention and clean, drain, dry practices.
  • Document inspections accurately and report findings to lead staff and program supervisors.
  • Follow established safety and operational protocols throughout each shift.
