About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established manufacturing organization in Hamburg that is seeking an experienced Production Controlling Team Leader to join their finance operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide a small, specialized team while staying closely connected to day-to-day operational controlling activities.

Our client operates multiple production facilities and relies on SAP as the core system for all controlling processes. You'll play a key role in advancing digitalization and automation initiatives while ensuring reliable financial processes and meaningful analysis that drives business decisions.

This position offers the opportunity to shape how production controlling evolves within the organization, balancing leadership responsibilities with analytical work in a stable, long-term environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small production controlling team, coordinating tasks and ensuring smooth daily operations
• Manage cost accounting for production orders across multiple facilities, analyzing results and collaborating closely with production sites
• Oversee manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and cost center accounting, maintaining data integrity in SAP
• Execute calculation cycles, prepare special analyses and internal cost calculations, deriving actionable insights from results
• Drive continuous improvement of controlling processes, reporting systems, and leverage digitalization and automation where beneficial
• Contribute expertise to cross-functional projects and work with colleagues across different locations and functions
• Ensure accurate and timely financial closing processes related to production activities
• Serve as the bridge between finance and operations, translating numbers into business recommendations

What We're Looking For

• Strong background in controlling, ideally with several years of experience in production or plant controlling environments
• Solid understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management
• Demonstrated experience with SAP, particularly in production-related modules (comfortable working in the system daily)
• Previous experience taking on responsibility for others—whether as a technical lead, deputy, project manager, or in a small team setting
• Ability to provide guidance, listen actively, and share knowledge with team members
• Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to maintain overview and prioritize effectively
• Interest in process optimization and implementing digital solutions that add genuine value
• Business degree, commercial qualification with further education, or equivalent practical experience
• German language proficiency required for this Hamburg-based role
• Collaborative approach and comfort working across functions and with international colleagues
