Team Lead Accounting (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established IT services organization in Germany that is seeking an experienced Team Lead Accounting to join their finance team in Bochum. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will shape financial processes, lead a dedicated accounting team, and work closely with senior management in a growing mid-market environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional and disciplinary leadership to the accounting team
• Ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping in compliance with HGB standards
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payment processing
• Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and digitalization of financial processes
• Support budget planning, forecasting, and management reporting
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal departments
• Establish clear organizational structures and workflows within the finance function
• Actively participate in automation initiatives for financial operations

What We're Looking For

• Completed commercial training with additional qualifications such as Bilanzbuchhalter (certified accountant)
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in financial accounting
• Background in mid-market or enterprise environments
• Strong knowledge of HGB (German commercial code) and proficiency with ERP systems; SAP R/3 experience is required
• Proven leadership skills with demonstrated success in developing and managing teams
• Hands-on mentality combined with structured, analytical thinking
• Strong communication skills, assertiveness, and a clear drive to shape processes
• Fluency in German is essential for this role
