Intuitive is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure to join our engineering team in Sunnyvale, CA, US. In this full-time role, you'll lead the design and evolution of infrastructure systems that power critical operations across the organization.

About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure at Intuitive, you'll own infrastructure strategy and drive architectural decisions that scale with the company's growth. Based in Sunnyvale, CA, you'll work at the highest level of technical influence, mentor engineers across the organization, and collaborate with teams to build systems that are reliable, secure, and efficient. This position combines hands-on engineering with strategic leadership—you'll architect solutions, guide implementation, and shape how Intuitive's infrastructure evolves.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect infrastructure systems that support scalability, reliability, and performance across the organization
• Lead complex infrastructure projects and drive adoption of best practices and modern technologies
• Mentor and develop engineering talent, providing guidance on system design and infrastructure decisions
• Optimize infrastructure for cost, performance, and operational efficiency
• Develop infrastructure-as-code frameworks and build automation that accelerates deployment
• Partner with product, security, and platform teams to translate business and technical requirements into robust solutions
• Participate in on-call response and lead incident resolution for critical infrastructure issues

Skills & Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and building large-scale infrastructure systems
• Strong expertise with cloud platforms, containerization, and infrastructure orchestration
• Proven track record leading infrastructure initiatives and technical teams
• Deep knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD practices, and modern deployment strategies
• Excellent system design skills with focus on scalability, reliability, and security
• Ability to balance immediate operational needs with long-term architectural improvements
• Strong communication and collaboration across technical and non-technical teams
