About This Position
We're looking for a committed and technically minded Engine Test Technician to support our advanced powertrain testing operations. You'll be responsible for the safe, accurate operation of engine test facilities and the collection of high-quality data essential to engine development and certification programmes. Your meticulous attention to detail, combined with practical engineering knowledge, will ensure that every test runs to specification and every result is reliable. This is hands-on technical work in a professional laboratory environment where precision and safety are paramount.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor engine test cells and dynamometer equipment to specification
- Conduct engine performance, emissions, durability, and validation tests according to defined protocols
- Record test data accurately using SCADA and data acquisition systems
- Perform pre-test inspections, calibrations, and routine maintenance on test equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate technical problems to engineering support
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures throughout all testing activities
- Collaborate with test engineers to support result analysis and reporting
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of all test runs and equipment status
Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in engineering, automotive technology, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated experience operating engine test facilities, dynamometers, or similar precision laboratory equipment
- Competency with SCADA systems, data logging, and technical instrumentation
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in testing protocols
- Valid driving licence and willingness to work the 4 on 4 off shift pattern
