Software Engineer Intern (London, United Kingdom) (Summer 2027)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading design technology company seeking Software Engineer Interns for their London office starting Summer 2027. Our client empowers creative teams worldwide with collaborative product development tools. This internship offers multiple start dates (May through mid-June) and places you on small, impactful engineering teams where you'll ship real features alongside experienced mentors.

Responsibilities

• Join a small engineering team as a full member with your own project and dedicated mentor
• Contribute to projects that directly align with team goals and business impact
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and QA to break down features and plan timelines
• Build, document, and maintain tests, features, or infrastructure components
• Participate in peer code review and share constructive feedback
• Ship your project(s) by the end of your internship

What We're Looking For

• Experience writing clean code in at least one general-purpose language (C++, JavaScript, Python, Java, etc.) with solid understanding of core CS concepts including data structures and algorithms
• Experience solving technical problems through academic coursework, work experience, or personal projects
• Familiarity using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to write, debug, and optimize code
• Demonstrated curiosity about how systems are designed and operate, from infrastructure to user interfaces
• Strong communication skills with ability to ask insightful questions, collaborate effectively, and embrace feedback as part of professional growth

Engineering Focus Areas (indicate preference when applying):

• Product: Build full-stack user-facing features including collaboration tools, product workflows, and growth experiments
• Platform/Infrastructure: Develop platform-level tools, distributed systems, developer tooling, and performance/scalability solutions
• Security Engineering: Create security-focused systems, product security tooling, detection mechanisms, secure infrastructure, or privacy features
• Open: Flexible and still exploring different types of engineering work
