Data Science Manager

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential financial services consultancy seeking a Data Science Manager to lead innovative AI and machine learning projects. In this role, you will guide talented data professionals and collaborate closely with business stakeholders to deliver impactful, scalable solutions that drive measurable value. You will champion responsible AI practices and foster AI-enabled workflows while maintaining appropriate governance and human oversight throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading data science teams to design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning and AI solutions
• Driving adoption of cutting-edge technologies including generative AI, large language models, and agentic AI frameworks while promoting responsible AI practices and governance
• Collaborating with business and technology teams to align technical outcomes with strategic goals
• Providing thought leadership and best practices across the data science lifecycle, from exploration to deployment, including scalable MLOps and model governance
• Mentoring and developing data professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a proven leader with deep technical expertise and excellent stakeholder management abilities. The ideal candidate will have:

• Demonstrated experience leading delivery of data science or AI projects from concept to production
• Strong proficiency in Python and core machine learning libraries such as spaCy, NumPy, SciPy, and Transformers
• Understanding of big data and cloud technologies including Spark, Hadoop, Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Deep expertise in MLOps principles, scalable model deployment, model governance, and practical application of responsible AI within enterprise environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data insights into business value

Preferred qualifications include:

• MSc or PhD in a quantitative discipline
• Experience in banking or financial services
• Exposure to generative AI, large language models, and intelligent agent workflows
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and productionising machine learning systems
• Passion for mentoring and developing early-career data talent
