Software Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential food delivery technology organization seeking a Backend Engineer (Golang) to join their Support Engineering group in London. In this role, you will build and maintain high-throughput backend services that power internal support tooling at global scale.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Building and maintaining scalable backend services using Go that handle millions of transactions monthly
• Collaborating with product managers, designers, and frontend developers to deliver features supporting internal support operations across multiple countries
• Designing systems that are resilient, scalable, and maintainable for high-performance admin applications
• Contributing to architectural discussions and technical decision-making for distributed systems
• Writing well-tested code and maintaining high code quality standards across the engineering team
• Participating in on-call rotation to ensure system reliability and rapid incident response

What We're Looking For

Our client needs an experienced engineer who can build low-latency systems at scale. The must-have qualifications include:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record building and scaling complex systems
• Production experience in Golang with strong engineering practices
• Strong hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, especially Cassandra
• Solid understanding of designing and operating low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems
• Previous on-call experience with a pragmatic approach to reliability and incident management

Nice to have:

• Background in Node.js or other backend languages
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and event-driven architectures
