We are representing a confidential technology client in London that operates a complex, real-time three-sided marketplace serving millions of users daily. As a Software Engineer, you will join a multi-disciplinary team focused on technical execution and building resilient systems at scale.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and scaling backend services using languages such as Go, Ruby, or Python to support high-traffic environments
- Improving code structure and architecture through deep technical discussions and peer code review
- Enhancing system reliability by focusing on monitoring, visibility, and production system health
- Collaborating across teams to identify integration opportunities and influence technical roadmap decisions
- Participating in engineering interviews and supporting the growth of team members
What We're Looking For
Our client seeks a Software Engineer who brings strong technical expertise and a problem-solving mindset:
- Pride in writing readable, well-designed, and well-tested software with a focus on long-term maintainability
- Experience building web-based applications in modern languages such as Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, or Rust
- Solid understanding of relational databases including PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Familiarity with web architecture at scale, ideally in high-traffic environments (20k rpm and above)
- Exposure to NoSQL data backends or caching layers like Redis, DynamoDB, or ElasticSearch
- Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly applied to complex logistical or marketplace challenges
This is a hybrid role based in London, typically requiring 3 days per week in the office.
