Sentinel Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential cybersecurity services organization seeking a Senior Microsoft Sentinel Engineer in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to work with enterprise clients on complex security implementations, designing and managing Microsoft Sentinel environments as part of a collaborative managed services delivery model.

You will be responsible for architecting Sentinel solutions, developing detection logic, implementing SOAR automation, and serving as a technical escalation point for both clients and internal teams. This position requires deep expertise in Microsoft security technologies and a commitment to staying current with evolving threat landscapes.

Responsibilities

• Lead Sentinel project delivery, defining requirements, solution designs, and enterprise standards
• Architect ingestion and integration frameworks including data connectors, workspace design, and multi-tenant configurations
• Translate business requirements into technical security solutions and identify implementation gaps
• Develop automation opportunities including SOAR playbooks via Logic Apps
• Write and optimize KQL queries for analytics rules and threat hunting
• Serve as technical escalation point for customer and internal security incidents
• Lead use case analysis and cybersecurity initiative planning
• Maintain technical documentation and provide project reporting
• Monitor and resolve platform issues as assigned
• Stay current on emerging security threats and detection techniques

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in information security roles
• Proven experience deploying and managing Microsoft Sentinel environments, including workspace architecture and data connector configuration
• Strong proficiency with KQL (Kusto Query Language) for writing analytics rules and hunting queries
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, security best practices, and systems administration
• Experience writing detection logic, analytics rules, or similar security content
• Familiarity with the broader Microsoft security stack (Defender XDR, Entra ID, Microsoft 365 Defender) strongly preferred
• Python or other scripting languages a plus
• Exceptional problem-solving and technical diagnostic abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing interactions
• Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple project tasks
• Experience with information security program requirements, processes, and deliverables
• Willingness to travel as needed
