About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential communications technology organization in their search for a Senior Data Engineer focused on real-time analytics. This role sits within a growing Analytics & Data Platform team serving a global customer base, where you'll build scalable streaming solutions that unlock data value through real-time insights and comprehensive reporting.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced data engineer who thrives on solving complex data challenges at scale using modern cloud-native technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead requirements analysis, solution design, architecture, and end-to-end delivery of near real-time data platform modules
- Analyze and translate business needs into optimized data models for big data environments
- Identify and resolve query performance bottlenecks across the analytics stack
- Write clean, scalable code using Scala, Python, and SQL; implement testing and deployment processes
- Solve challenging data problems in near real-time using optimal architectures, frameworks, and query techniques across structured and unstructured sources
- Contribute to product and platform performance optimization and production monitoring
- Mentor team members through actionable feedback and knowledge sharing
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (computer science, mathematics, or related)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with near real-time analytics systems
- 5+ years of experience with modern programming languages such as Scala, Python, Go, or TypeScript
- Proven experience designing complex data processing pipelines
- Strong background in data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling) within AWS Redshift
- Demonstrated expertise in query optimization techniques
- Experience shipping and maintaining production code
- Familiarity with Kafka is a plus
- Collaborative mindset with enthusiasm for sharing ideas and learning from others
Technology environment: AWS services (Kinesis, Kafka, S3, DMS, Glue, EMR, EKS, Redshift, Spectrum), Apache Pinot, Apache Flink, Airflow, GitLab-based continuous deployment
