Senior UI/UX Engineer- Quantum Computing (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential quantum computing organization seeking a Senior UI/UX Engineer to own the complete user experience across their technology platform. You'll set the design direction for both customer-facing interfaces and internal operator tools, ensuring coherence across the product family.

In this role, you will:

• Lead design strategy for cloud platform interfaces and internal operator systems, maintaining visual and interaction consistency
• Conduct user research with operators and domain experts, observing workflows in technical environments and translating insights into design decisions
• Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for multiple product surfaces
• Build and maintain a production-ready design system with tested, documented components that serve as the foundation for application development
• Design visualization patterns for complex telemetry and calibration data, making technical information comprehensible at a glance
• Validate shipped interfaces through usability testing and ensure alignment between design intent and delivered product
• Collaborate with backend and platform engineers on API design, representing user needs throughout the development process
• Establish standards for accessibility, usability, and visual consistency while elevating design understanding across the engineering team

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate brings deep product design experience combined with technical implementation skills:

• 5+ years of professional experience in product or interaction design with a portfolio demonstrating shipped digital products
• Ability to implement your designs as reusable components in production code using TypeScript and React, including component testing and documentation tools like Storybook
• Mastery across the full design spectrum: research, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and visual design, with daily proficiency in Figma
• Proven experience designing for complex, data-intensive, or expert-user products rather than consumer applications
• Track record of building or substantially owning a design system
• Experience planning and executing usability testing, and implementing findings
• Strong collaboration skills with domain experts and ability to transform ambiguous problems into clear design solutions
• Adaptability and quick learning mindset
• Good proficiency in English, written and spoken

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with real-time browser data (WebSockets, streaming telemetry)
• Background in scientific, industrial, or laboratory control software
• Practical application of accessibility standards such as WCAG
• Experience mentoring designers or leading design in cross-functional teams
• Prior exposure to quantum computing or deep-tech domains
