Senior/Staff Machine Learning Data Scientist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization seeking a Senior/Staff Machine Learning Data Scientist. Our client is focused on real-time clinical decision support systems that directly impact patient care outcomes. This is an opportunity to own the complete lifecycle of production ML models—from prototype to deployment—while collaborating closely with clinical, engineering, and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and tune innovative ML models and labeling systems based on clinical use cases and state-of-the-art machine learning methods
• Take ownership of productionizing the models you develop using production-grade Python
• Identify strategies for improving production ML systems, then write, debug, and deploy production-grade Python code to implement those improvements
• Write data mapping code and debug specific patient cases by tracing data flows through cloud services
• Improve prediction timeliness by optimizing Python and SQL code in production environments
• Present model performance and metrics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, internally and externally
• Collaborate cross-functionally to clarify and prioritize specifications and features for clinical AI models

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in a relevant field (Computer Science, Statistics, Biomedical Informatics, or related) plus 3+ years shipping ML-based software products
• End-to-end ownership experience with ML models from prototyping to production, particularly real-time algorithms that update dynamically over time
• Demonstrated ability writing production-grade Python and SQL code to implement and evaluate ML models in production systems
• Track record using statistics and performance metrics to compare end-to-end ML and product performance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience shipping breakthrough or 0-1 products end to end, interpreting and leveraging state-of-the-art methods
• Experience using messy clinical and health data to design new products for large health systems
• Familiarity with: PyTorch, PySpark, HL7, FHIR, EHR systems, time series data, signal processing, MLFlow, anomaly detection, Bayesian statistics, quantile regression, or time-series forecasting
• Passion and enthusiasm for working on a growing team focused on high-impact healthcare outcomes
