What This Role Involves
As Senior Software Project Manager at Wabtec, you'll own the end-to-end delivery of critical software projects. You'll partner with engineering leaders, product stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to plan scope, manage timelines, and navigate the complexities of modern software development. This remote position combines strategic oversight with hands-on coordination, requiring both technical depth and mature stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria aligned with business goals
- Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies
- Lead and mentor project teams, removing blockers and fostering clear communication
- Monitor project progress, track key metrics, and escalate risks and dependencies proactively
- Conduct stakeholder reviews, manage expectations, and report on status and outcomes
- Drive quality assurance and process improvements across project workflows
- Collaborate with technical leads to assess feasibility and optimize delivery approaches
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience managing software projects in agile, hybrid, or traditional environments
- Proven track record leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex initiatives on schedule and within budget
- Strong technical foundation—you understand software architecture, development cycles, and engineering constraints
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
- Ability to thrive independently in a remote-first working environment
- Fluency in English; German language skills a plus
