Senior Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential renewable energy technology client based in Leipzig. They are building the software infrastructure that coordinates distributed energy assets into intelligent virtual power plants. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their control systems team and help scale their platform as they expand across European energy markets.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed control systems that coordinate fleets of energy storage and generation assets
• Translate complex energy-market and grid requirements into reliable, production-grade software
• Build services responsible for communicating with physical assets and processing telemetry, status data, and operational capabilities
• Design fault-tolerant systems that handle device failures, network unreliability, message delays, and temporary asset unavailability
• Build highly observable and resilient services that operate continuously in production environments
• Own your services end-to-end from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and operations
• Collaborate closely with domain specialists to understand energy-market challenges and develop pragmatic technical solutions
• Make architectural decisions that balance reliability, scalability, simplicity, and delivery velocity
• Mentor other engineers and elevate technical standards across the team

What We're Looking For

• Several years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems
• Proven experience designing and architecting distributed systems
• A "you build it, you run it" mindset with familiarity in Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Strong backend development skills with Go or another modern programming language (Go experience preferred but not required)
• Experience with asynchronous and event-driven architectures; familiarity with NATS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or MQTT is advantageous
• Solid understanding of both SQL and NoSQL databases; experience with time-series databases like InfluxDB or Timescale is a plus
• Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
• Clear and confident communication skills in English
