Senior SAP FI Consultant (m/w/d) – S/4HANA Transformation

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential IT consulting organization in Germany that is expanding its SAP Finance practice. Our client works with mid-market companies across various industries on large-scale S/4HANA transformation projects. They are building their internal FI expertise and seeking a Senior SAP FI Consultant to help shape this growing practice area.

This role offers earlier responsibility than you would typically find at a large consultancy, with a sustainable project workload—no 60-hour weeks or juggling twenty projects simultaneously. You will work on meaningful S/4HANA migrations from initial process workshops through go-live.

• Location: Germany – remote, hybrid, or on-site with clients

Responsibilities

• Work on S/4HANA transformation projects in the Finance domain, taking ownership of topics from process workshops through go-live
• Analyze and optimize financial processes with client accounting teams: general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset accounting, and financial close
• Design appropriate solutions in the SAP S/4HANA FI environment and implement them through customizing, including migration from existing ECC systems
• Assume responsibility for defined project areas that grow with your experience, up to functional ownership of your domain within projects
• Act as the translator between business departments and the system—explaining SAP clearly to accounting teams and translating functional requirements into clean system solutions
• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to building the internal knowledge base

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 2 years of consulting experience in the SAP FI environment, ideally from S/4HANA migration projects
• Experience with FI customizing and a solid understanding of the accounting processes behind it
• Strong communication skills—you can explain SAP topics so accounting teams understand them, and translate functional requirements back into SAP solutions
• Genuine interest in understanding finance processes deeply, not just processing tickets
• Comfortable with numbers and direct client interaction
• CO (Controlling) knowledge is welcome but not required; the focus is approximately 80% FI
• German language proficiency required for client-facing work in Germany
