Engineering Team Lead, Identity & Access Management (IAM)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is building critical infrastructure for Canada's financial services sector. Our talent team is seeking an Engineering Team Lead to own identity and access management capabilities that serve multiple product teams across the organization.

This is a remote position based in Canada, offering the chance to lead a foundational platform team during a period of significant growth and technical evolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers through hiring, regular one-on-ones, coaching, performance management, and career development
• Own team delivery and operational cadence, maintaining visibility into priorities, scope, risks, dependencies, and timelines
• Partner with Product Management and Staff Engineering to shape strategy, roadmap, and technical direction for identity and access capabilities
• Guide technical decisions across identity, authentication, and authorization systems while leveraging the expertise of your engineering team
• Drive adoption of shared capabilities and integration patterns across the organization's engineering teams
• Coordinate cross-team dependencies, clarifying ownership and managing upstream and downstream relationships
• Ensure systems meet security, reliability, observability, and compliance requirements
• Represent the team in cross-functional discussions, translating technical trade-offs and delivery risks for diverse audiences

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 3+ years of people management experience, including coaching, performance management, hiring, and career development
• Strong software engineering background with technical depth in security-sensitive systems
• Experience leading complex work across multiple engineering teams, with proven ability to align priorities and manage dependencies
• Track record of delivery leadership in environments with multiple moving parts and competing priorities
• Sound judgment in identity, authentication, authorization, security, and platform architecture
• Experience building or operating shared platforms or services consumed by other engineering teams
• Ability to communicate technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborative leadership style with discernment about when to decide, facilitate, or delegate

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in fintech or other regulated industries
• Background building, scaling, or modernizing shared identity or authorization capabilities
• Experience leading platform team adoption across multiple products or engineering organizations
• Partnership experience with Security, Risk, Compliance, or Audit functions
