We are representing a confidential defence technology organization based in London that is building cutting-edge aerospace capabilities. Our client is a small, high-performing team working on complex hardware programmes that require exceptional quality discipline without sacrificing speed.

This is a rare opportunity to join as Senior Quality Engineer and build quality systems from the ground up in a fast-paced, high-consequence engineering environment. You'll work directly with engineering and manufacturing teams on prototype through flight-ready hardware, establishing lean processes that enable rapid iteration while maintaining the rigor required for critical applications.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a lean Quality Management System suitable for aerospace hardware development, aligned to AS9100 standards without adding unnecessary bureaucracy
• Own the complete nonconformance process including containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and prevention (NCR, MRB, concessions) with rapid turnaround
• Build quality infrastructure for prototype to flight hardware including inspection planning, traceability protocols, and documentation that supports test and readiness reviews
• Drive supplier quality initiatives: define onboarding criteria, conduct audits as needed, establish incoming inspection standards, track supplier performance, and resolve quality escapes quickly
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing to embed design for manufacturability and quality by design principles early in the development process
• Define and maintain measurement and calibration controls and ensure appropriate controls for special processes
• Create actionable quality dashboards tracking escape rate, NCR cycle time, top defect drivers, and supplier performance trends
• Be hands-on in the manufacturing environment, working directly with the team to identify issues and drive solutions in real time

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of quality engineering experience in aerospace, defence, advanced manufacturing, motorsport, or other high-consequence hardware environments
• Deeply practical approach: capable of running a QMS but focused on real outcomes over paperwork
• Strong experience with NCR/MRB/concessions processes and rapid closure of corrective actions with solid root cause discipline
• Comfortable working with flight-critical or safety-critical hardware with appropriate traceability and evidence requirements
• Demonstrated supplier quality capability: able to hold suppliers accountable while maintaining programme velocity
• Strong judgment to apply rigor where necessary while keeping processes minimal to maintain speed
• Comfortable building systems from scratch in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
• Must be a British Citizen (or Dual UK national with British citizenship) and eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) and potentially Developed Vetting (DV) due to the nature of the work
