About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential aerospace organization that is advancing next-generation space transportation capabilities. Our client is establishing a dedicated remote test facility to support propulsion testing and flight demonstrations for a precision landing vehicle program.
As an AIT MGSE Engineer, you will design and deliver mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) needed for assembly and testing activities at this cutting-edge facility in Bordeaux, France.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and AIT teams to define and refine MGSE requirements and delivery timelines for various assembly and testing activities
- Conceptualize, design (CAD including manufacturing drawings), procure, and commission mechanical ground support equipment
- Validate designs through mechanical analysis, hand calculations, and proof testing to ensure compatibility with external loads
- Work with suppliers to optimize MGSE designs for manufacturability and appropriate manufacturing processes
- Manage manufacturing and procurement follow-up with suppliers, addressing technical questions and ensuring timely delivery
- Provide technical instructions and hands-on support during assembly, commissioning, and implementation of MGSEs
- Produce comprehensive documentation including design descriptions, assembly instructions, and test reports
What We're Looking For
- Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree or similar qualification with focus on machine/structural design
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD design and drafting using Siemens NX or similar software
- Minimum 2 years of experience with FE analysis using Hypermesh or similar tools
- Strong understanding of machine design, manufacturing processes (machining, welding, etc.), design for manufacturing, and GD&T
- Familiarity with standard margin calculation methodologies for beams, bolted joints, welds, and similar applications
- Experience with planning and executing mechanical tests in-house (preferred)
- Strong documentation skills for technical specifications, assembly instructions, and test reports
- Creative problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities
- Basic hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and simple machining tools
- Previous experience in space AIT and MGSE design highly valued
- Good English communication skills; French language skills are a plus
