Senior Platform Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential AI-infrastructure organization seeking a Senior Platform Engineering Manager to lead their Cloud Platform and SRE teams. In this remote role, you will take ownership of the technical foundation and reliability systems that enable secure, efficient scaling.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Team Leadership: Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development for one or more Platform teams, building a culture of high performance and ownership.
• Infrastructure Strategy: Drive strategic direction for cloud infrastructure and platform services, including Kubernetes (GKE) cluster management. Focus on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and innovation.
• SRE Excellence: Own availability and embed SRE principles across the organization by defining SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, and enhancing observability and incident remediation processes.
• Platform as Product: Own the developer-facing platform including golden paths, self-service infrastructure, and internal tooling. Maintain a platform roadmap with adoption metrics, enabling teams to provision, deploy, and operate services safely and independently.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure cloud environments remain secure and compliant with standards such as SOC2 and ISO-27001.

What We're Looking For

Our client needs an engineering leader who has built deep technical credibility as a senior individual contributor before transitioning into team leadership. You should have:

• Infrastructure Leadership: Proven experience leading teams in infrastructure and SRE domains, with a track record of scaling both platforms and people.
• Technical Expertise: Several years of deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Terragrunt, Crossplane), with GitOps workflows using tools like ArgoCD.
• Reliability and Architecture: Solid understanding of complex infrastructure and application architecture, observability principles, and incident management.
• Stability and Velocity: Experience balancing platform stability and reliability with the goal of increasing developer productivity and velocity.
• Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex technical solutions into clear narratives for non-technical stakeholders.
