Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential public-sector technology organization in Germany that is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer. In this role, you will build and maintain robust backend solutions for complex applications within the statutory health insurance sector.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Developing and enhancing modern backend applications using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
- Designing, implementing, and integrating REST APIs
- Translating complex business requirements from the statutory health insurance domain into technical solutions
- Building performant and maintainable software while meeting quality and security standards
- Working with SQL and DB2 for data processing and management
- Analyzing, optimizing, and evolving existing applications and components
- Creating automated tests and ensuring software quality throughout the development lifecycle
- Coordinating with business stakeholders, development teams, and other project participants
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation
What We're Looking For
Our client requires a developer with substantial experience in the German healthcare technology landscape. Essential qualifications include:
- Multiple years of experience in Java backend development with strong proficiency in Spring and Spring Boot
- Hands-on project experience with BITMARCK 21c ng
- Experience working in the statutory health insurance (GKV) environment, ideally with LRB, ELW, or EEL systems
- Solid knowledge of REST web services, SQL, and DB2
- Proven experience developing secure and reliable software solutions and handling sensitive patient data
- Excellent German language skills, both written and spoken (C2 level)
Nice to have:
- Experience with microservices architecture and container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
- Knowledge of Kafka, Liquibase, and modern testing frameworks
- Familiarity with FHIR or other healthcare standards
- Experience with agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban
