About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential aerospace technology organization in their search for a Senior DSP/FPGA Engineer I based in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom. Our client is at the forefront of developing advanced communication systems for satellites and aerospace platforms, and they need an experienced engineer who can design and implement complex digital signal processing algorithms for high-speed FPGA applications.

Responsibilities
- Research and design fast, efficient hardware-realizable DSP algorithms for functions including filters, equalizers, timing/carrier recovery loops, multi-rate structures, and FFT processing engines
- Develop models to provide real-life stimulus for testing algorithms, including phase and Gaussian noise, non-linear RF effects, Doppler, multipath, and other channel impairments
- Create both floating-point and fixed-point models in MATLAB or Python, ensuring the fixed-point model can directly verify VHDL hardware realization functionality
- Implement efficient and robust realizations of developed algorithms using VHDL
- Generate accurate and concise documentation and design notes
- Collaborate effectively with the design team and communicate critical technical information
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or institution
- More than 4 years of postgraduate experience
- Strong background in Communications Theory with excellent theoretical knowledge of advanced DSP concepts and digital communication systems
- Baseline understanding of wireless modem operation
- Strong algorithmic modeling skills using MATLAB or Python
- Ability to partition design problems and define block-level hardware architectures
- Excellent knowledge of VHDL
- Competence with MS Office tools for presenting technical information and generating reports
- Solid track record of on-time, high-quality project delivery
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with team-player mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
- Higher degree in Electronics/Communications Engineering
- Knowledge of real-time implementation of complex DSP in parallel processor architectures
- Understanding of wireless communications standards, particularly DVB-S2(X) and CCSDS standards
- Understanding of digital and analog hardware design with hands-on laboratory experience in bringing-up and validating designs
