Senior Director Molecular Sciences

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential precision medicine laboratory seeking a Senior Director Molecular Sciences to lead their molecular services team in Berlin. This is an on-site leadership role reporting to the Site Head, focused on building scientific vision and driving the strategic direction of molecular laboratory services supporting translational research for global biopharmaceutical clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the molecular services team to ensure efficient organization and execution of high-quality experimental work
• Create and implement a strategic scientific plan, including technology assessment, to support translational research objectives
• Design, develop, and validate molecular assays including DNA methylation and other epigenetic approaches
• Oversee implementation of molecular services in an ISO 15189 laboratory environment
• Provide technical and scientific leadership while building and managing a multi-faceted team in a competitive landscape
• Organize and analyze data, prepare reports, and communicate findings effectively
• Ensure compliance with GxP/ISO standards

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Genomics/Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cellular/Cancer Biology, Immunology or related field
• Ideally 18+ years of relevant laboratory experience in Molecular Biology
• Ideally 10+ years of leadership experience with direct reports
• ISO 15189 laboratory experience
• Solid understanding of current GxP/ISO standards
• Expert-level technical and scientific skills in molecular technologies: NGS, qPCR, nucleic acid extraction and quantification
• Experience with next generation sequencing using a variety of technologies
• Strong computational skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad, and Prism
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and use sound judgment and discretion
• Fluency in both English and German (read, write, speak, comprehend)
• Flexibility for extended work hours when business demands require

Preferred:

• Demonstrated skills in various molecular scientific assays
• Clinical trial knowledge, especially in oncology
