(Senior) DevOps Engineer (m/f/x)

Responsibilities

Our client, a dynamic technology organization in Berlin, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of infrastructure and DevOps processes. You will work within a dedicated team on innovative solutions in a product-oriented environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Kubernetes & Containers: Operate and expand clusters, including node setup, upgrades, deployments, troubleshooting, and application testing. Onboard development teams onto the platform and manage Docker-based container solutions and their integration.
• CI/CD & GitOps: Maintain and develop GitLab environments, including pipelines, runners, the GitLab Agent for Kubernetes, and Jira integration. Implement GitOps-based delivery with ArgoCD or Flux.
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Provision and manage configuration using Terraform and Ansible.
• Databases: Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot database systems in production.
• Observability: Set up and operate ELK, TIG, and Grafana Alloy stacks, including installation, configuration, dashboards, and alerting.
• Networks & Diagnostics: Analyze and optimize networks, perform log file analysis, and conduct systematic root cause analysis for complex incidents at packet level.
• Security: Conduct security checks at application and infrastructure levels, plus implement security gates in pipelines (SAST, dependency/SCA scanning, secrets detection, SBOM generation, artifact signing).

What We're Looking For

• A degree in computer science, a STEM subject, or equivalent qualification gained through several years of professional experience
• Strong Linux skills and solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, MTU/routing) with proven troubleshooting ability
• At least 3 years of hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments, along with container technologies (Docker/OCI)
• Hands-on depth with GitLab CI/CD or comparable systems, and with GitOps tooling such as ArgoCD or Flux
• Practical experience automating infrastructure and configuration as code with Terraform and Ansible
• Excellent analytical and debugging skills, with a structured, detail-oriented way of working
• A collaborative mindset: you enjoy developing solutions together, document your work, and share knowledge across the team
• German and/or English language proficiency for daily collaboration

Nice to have:

• Experience with a specific cloud platform (OCI, Azure, AWS, or GCP) and with migration projects
• Familiarity with DevSecOps toolchains such as SonarQube, Sonatype Lifecycle, Trivy, or Cosign/Sigstore
