Senior Controller (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential professional services organization in München seeking a Senior Controller to build and lead their controlling function. You will partner directly with senior leadership to establish data-driven management processes and decision-making frameworks.

In this role, you will:

• Develop the controlling function from the ground up, creating meaningful KPI systems and reporting structures for management, partners, departments, and locations
• Establish plan-versus-actual comparisons and automated early warning systems that identify cost and budget variances at the project level
• Analyze profitability, contribution margins, productivity, utilization, work-in-progress, and working capital, translating findings into actionable management insights
• Ensure data quality across planning revenue, planned hours, master data, and time tracking systems
• Advance project planning, capacity planning, personnel planning, and financial forecasting by building the necessary data models and tools
• Conduct monthly reporting and management discussions with partners, tracking action items and ensuring numbers drive concrete decisions
• Maximize existing controlling software while supplementing with custom Power BI solutions where appropriate
• Build partner-specific Power BI dashboards and automated reports, integrating data from controlling software, DATEV, HRIS, and additional systems

What We're Looking For

Our talent team is seeking a candidate with:

• Several years of substantial controlling experience, ideally having built or significantly developed a controlling or reporting function
• Advanced Power BI skills enabling you to independently build data models, dashboards, and permission concepts
• Strong affinity for numbers and data, with confidence navigating Excel, raw data, data models, and complex analytical logic
• Understanding of controlling as active business management—ability to translate numbers clearly, challenge critically, and identify concrete action items
• Professional presence to conduct planning and management discussions with partners and leadership as equals, following through consistently on initiatives
• Highly independent, structured, and solution-oriented work style requiring minimal supervision
• Commitment to data quality and clean processes as fundamental prerequisites for effective controlling

Experience in professional services, consulting, or similar environments is beneficial but not required. More important is your ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new systems and data structures, recognize relationships, and leverage existing tools for better management.
