Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential policy organization working on strategic AI initiatives in Germany. This Governance Manager role focuses on building and leading a high-level advisory board for a sovereign open-source AI project. You will design governance structures that bring together experts from industry, research, policy, and technology to guide the strategic direction of foundational AI model development.

Your responsibilities include:

• Designing and establishing the project's governance board in collaboration with the core team, developing appropriate working and coordination structures
• Identifying and recruiting experts from academia, industry, open-source communities, AI infrastructure, legal, regulatory, and public administration sectors for the advisory body
• Planning, organizing, and moderating board meetings while preparing discussion materials and decision documents
• Documenting recommendations, tracking agreed-upon actions, and integrating outcomes into strategic, technical, and organizational project decisions
• Managing ongoing communication with board members and reporting on project status, risks, and decision requirements
• Contributing to the development of governance and commercialization strategies and networking with relevant national and European initiatives

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a professional with strong stakeholder management experience and deep understanding of AI policy topics:

• Completed academic degree in business, political science, public administration, law, computer science, or engineering—relevant experience and genuine interest in AI matters most
• Knowledge of current topics surrounding artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, and European technology policy
• Ideally an existing network in the AI and technology sector with experience engaging diverse stakeholders
• Prior work experience in a larger corporation, political or public sector environment, or at the intersection of technology, business, and policy
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical, economic, and political issues and structure them clearly for different audiences
• Fluent German and English with strong communication skills, facilitation abilities, and strategic thinking
