Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential organization advancing AI research and development in Germany. As Communications Manager for a strategic open-source AI initiative, you will:

• Plan and manage communication activities for a major AI foundation model project, developing communication strategy in collaboration with research consortium partners
• Lead press and media relations, coordinating media inquiries and preparing interviews, background briefings, and press releases
• Communicate technical milestones and model releases, translating complex AI content for diverse audiences
• Create and coordinate content across website, social media, newsletters, presentations, FAQs, and other communication materials
• Align communication initiatives with consortium partners and project stakeholders to ensure consistent external messaging
• Identify relevant conferences, technical events, and policy forums; prepare appearances and represent the project externally alongside the project team
• Monitor media coverage and public perception around open-source AI, digital sovereignty, and related policy topics

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree (university or FH) in Communications, Marketing, or comparable field
• Demonstrated experience communicating AI or technical projects to both specialist and general audiences
• Established network within German journalism and media
• Fluent written and spoken German and English
• Strong negotiation skills, excellent communication abilities, and network-oriented thinking
• Understanding of open-source technology and European AI policy landscape is valued
