About This Opportunity

Our client is a confidential technology organization developing AI-powered solutions for the life sciences sector. They operate internationally across Europe, Asia, Americas, and Australia, delivering data intelligence projects that require precision and domain expertise.

We are representing them in the search for a Senior Project Manager (m/w/d) - AI & Data Projects in Pharma based in Essen. This role combines hands-on project leadership with client relationship management in a fast-moving, international environment where AI tools are part of daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead international client projects end-to-end: from contract clarification and kickoff through delivery and final presentation, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met
• Establish clear project foundations before work begins—contracts, data provisions, timelines, and approved business objectives aligned between client and delivery teams
• Serve as primary client contact throughout project lifecycle, managing expectations, securing approvals, gathering requirements, and maintaining transparent communication across stakeholders
• Coordinate across data teams, subject matter experts, and client contacts in multiple markets and time zones, working in both German and English
• Identify client needs proactively and develop proposals for follow-on work, supporting business development through pitches, demos, and offer development
• Actively leverage AI tools for research, analysis, documentation, and workflow optimization—contributing to evolving team practices around AI-assisted project delivery
• Develop and refine project standards, templates, and playbooks that become team-wide operating procedures
• Share knowledge with colleagues through best practice documentation, sparring sessions, and mentoring

What We're Looking For

• Completed university degree in business, natural sciences, health sciences, computer science, or related field
• 4+ years of project management experience in consulting, agency, service provider, or in-house environments—preferably with data, analytics, or digital projects
• Proven ability to manage multiple demanding B2B projects simultaneously without losing sight of timelines, budgets, or details
• Strong communication skills: clear, reliable, and confident when engaging with clients at all levels (this is especially critical for this role)
• High personal standards for reliability, accuracy, and output quality—what you commit to gets delivered, and what you deliver withstands client scrutiny
• Efficient, structured work style with focus on what matters and ability to reach results quickly
• Openness to AI: already using AI tools in daily work or highly motivated to expand that capability
• Enthusiasm for healthcare, pharma, and life sciences—and motivation to contribute in a growing organization
• Comfort with client contact and commercial instincts: you recognize opportunities and speak up about them
• Confidence with scoping, planning, and standard project management tools
• Self-directed work style with desire to actively shape processes rather than simply execute tasks
• Fluent German and very strong English for international project work
