Senior Security Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential IoT technology company in their search for a Senior Security Engineer based in the United Kingdom. Our client is a leader in connected operations, serving industries that power the global economy. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a Security Operations Team where you'll monitor and respond to security events, lead incidents as Incident Commander, and conduct digital forensic investigations.

In this role, you'll work with a global team of engineers to protect critical infrastructure while having the autonomy to create automated workflows, maintain runbooks, and refine processes. You'll bring security expertise to collaborative initiatives across the organization in a practical, humble manner.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security events and provide technical analysis on alerts across the organization
• Lead information security incidents and employee insider investigations, developing response strategies and executing through closure
• Provide clear, concise security guidance for incident response and insider threat initiatives
• Deliver incident updates to key stakeholders including technical staff, executive leadership, and legal teams
• Coordinate the building of services, capabilities, integrations, and technology implementations supporting security operations
• Mentor and train security operations engineers on data collection, analysis, and reporting techniques
• Build scripts and tools using Python to support investigation processes
• Participate in on-call rotation covering weekends
• Work flexible hours aligned to UK time zones to support team operations

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Security Incident Response
• Proven ability to communicate investigative findings and strategies to technical staff, executives, and legal teams
• Proficiency in Python for building scripts and investigation tools
• Practical experience leading security incident response, including alert monitoring, triage, and cross-team coordination
• Strong understanding of analysis and forensics techniques on macOS, Windows, and Linux
• Experience with SIEM tools for log reviews and analysis
• Hands-on experience with cloud architecture and security (AWS, GCP) and cloud-based services
• Experience mentoring and training security operations engineers
• Must be based in the United Kingdom

Preferred qualifications:

• 2+ years working on insider threat initiatives or employee investigations
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
• GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) or similar certification
• Familiarity with security frameworks and standards including NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP
